Successful applicants will be required to work in extreme weather conditions and be will need to be familiar with remote site work and operating equipment in a remote environment.\nAny combination of over the road, Line-Haul, Local or winter driving experience is preferred. The successful candidate must be able and willing to work at a remote site for 3 weeks-on and 3 weeks-off at a time and is required to work different shifts during the scheduled rotation. Lodging, meals, and transportation are provided to the successful candidate working on site. This position is a safety-sensitive position and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner is required.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nFreight Operations l\nSecures, unloads and loads breakbulk and less-than container load (LCL) freight with a variety of equipment including banding, dunnage, lumber, binders and chains. This position usually operates in a marine or warehouse facility. Operates a warehouse forklift. Supports operations by working on the deck of the barge to set and pull cones, secure containers and other equipment to the deck of the barge and assist operators as needed. Generally involved with the process of receiving and distributing freight to and from customers at the working facility. Assist in the maintenance of company property and general facility housekeeping duties.\nFreight Operations II\nAll the responsibilities of a Freight Operations I. Is certified to operating a forklift up to 52t in a marine terminal. Additionally, employees can qualify by having a Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements and possess the ability to efficiently unload and load their truck in a marine terminal; this includes stacking containers in the yard safely and efficiently. This position requires 1-2 years of freight operations experience.\nFreight Operations lll\nAll the responsibilities of a Freight Operations I \u2013 ll. Is certified to operate a forklift up to 52t on the deck of a barge. Qualified as a barge master and understands the rules for stowing and securement of freight and equipment on a barge. Assists in the training and development of a Freight Operations I and II. In many ports a CDL is required as well.\nFreight Operations lV\nAll the responsibilities of a Freight Operations I \u2013 III. Highly qualified with an advanced level of experience operating friction cranes on land and on barges. This position actively travels for crane work on and off the deck of a barge.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Hazmat and tanker endorsements are required by date of hire. MSHA certification training is mandatory and the ability to pass and maintain annual certification is required.\nThe ability to pass an in-depth ATF background check for hauling explosives is required. Successful background checks and drug tests are mandatory for pre-employment and will\nbe routinely conducted during employment.\nEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent, one-to-three months of work-related experience and/or training in general freight operations. Experience in the transportation industry is preferred.\nLANGUAGE SKILLS:\nAbility to read, interpret, and write documents such as bills of ladings, tariffs, delivery receipts, military documents, procedure manuals, employee and safety manuals, and routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and clearly with customers, vendors, managers, and other employees. Strong communication skills both verbally and in written form.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS:\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
